Ten Tips to Find Your Humour Humor is an excellent tool to help you learn to see the silver lining in the challenges that can obscure life’s opportunities. Remember, you may not be able to control what life throws at you but you do control how you react to it. The following are my ten favorite ways to inject humor into my life so that I can see the silver lining and the opportunities. Be grateful for what you have. I am grateful everyday that I have the ability and inclination to walk. It’s great exercise, it’s free and there’s always something interesting or amusing to see along the way. Laugh every day. This is especially important if things aren’t going as you would like. Laughter is good for you. It increases endorphin levels, boosts your immune system, relieves stress and eases fear and anxiety. Start with a positive affirmation. Make it something that really speaks to you. Say it several times a day, especially when negative thoughts flit through your brain. You can try www.oprah.com to get started but there are numerous websites available. Take a step back. Two years from now would you laugh at this situation? A little perspective goes a long way. Flex your humor muscles. Find the contradictions or incongruities in your daily life. Look for truth disguised as humor. Create a comic alter ego. A great way to give voice to daily frustrations is to lovingly laugh at and with this alter ego. Imagine your life as a sitcom. Write about your life as if it was a comedy with you as the star. Play regularly. Allow the child in you expression. Ban worry and guilt. Feeling guilty about the past and worrying about the future won’t change anything. Complain creatively. Enjoy it thoroughly and look for the lesson that life may be trying to teach you.

Finding the silver lining simply means putting the most positive spin on any situation. Humor can help. Incorporating humor in your daily life will ensure that you see opportunities that can be the stepping stones to achieving your dreams. Keep laughing, Bev Monthly Quote “I’ve always thought that a big laugh is a really loud noise from the soul saying, “Ain’t that the truth.” - Quincy Jones |
