Bodies Be Well! This month’s issue addresses Our Body: Our Vehicle. I initially chose this theme because our body is truly our greatest gift, which allows us the freedom to fully experience the world around us. Please note that I used the word “freedom”. Bullying and terrorism in our schools does not allow for the word “freedom”. As a mentor and coach to young adults, I’ve researched and watched this issue escalate over the past ten years. I’ve approached Governors and Premiers all over North America who tell me that “it’s not bad enough for the public to want to do something about it yet”!
"Things will get easier, people's minds will change, and you should be alive to see it," said Ellen DeGeneres on her video that we've featured this month. Our focus for October is how you can serve your body so your body will serve you. The mentor’s advice columns tackle issues such as Roger Vokey’s “Your Right to Life, Liberty, and Security” article, Matt Todd’s “Habits Help or Hurt Us” article, Bill MacDonald’s “More Savings: Less Stress” article and Michael Killip’s “You Are What You Eat” article. Of course Beverly Raitz’s “A Positive Attitude Leads to Your Potential” article and Gloria Jean’s “Memories are Like Gold” article help lighten the scene this month. Facing tough issues is part of embracing life for young adults. The more we listen and mentor our readership and keep tough issues on the table, the less chance that our young adults will fall into traps that can negatively affect their future. Each and every person alive deserves to live his or her potential. So, do your best to take care of your body, protect your body, and nourish your body from the inside out. Already looking forward to next time, Lisa
