BOO! This month’s theme is Courage: Face Your Fears. It takes a lot of courage to face fear, but in many cases, facing fear can bring us great freedom and teach us the power of our personal courage and strength.

When I was a young adult, I had very large ears that stuck out the sides of my head like an elf's and yellow-green frog eyes that the kids would mention from time to time to time. Due to my perceived imperfections, I experienced being bullied and it can take great courage to merely go to school each day for many young adults that are being bullied too. 

I cannot express enough how important it is for young adults who are bullied and/or abused to not isolate their lives. In fact, find a new one. If you are being bullied at school, make new friends at a local place of prayer, with a volunteer group, or join a karate class and make new tough friends. ;) 

Fear can either cripple us or make us fight harder. It takes great courage to face fear and work with it rather than just hide from it. Truth is, it might be easier in the moment to hide from fear, but that fear might fester within you for the rest of your life if not faced today. If you are bullied, fight for your rights. You deserve your education so fight for it and study! Don't let the depression get the better of you! Take self defense classes or karate or kickboxing to gain strength in both mind and body to deal with those who abuse you.

This issue addresses courage, overcoming fear and even addresses phobias and curing them through desensitization and relaxation techniques. The mentors columns rock as always and we hope you learn one thing from this issue about overcoming fear to better your life and the lives of those you love.
