Be Happy!
This month's theme is Happiness: You Own It. Our mentor's research this month came back conclusively that happiness does not come from material objects, but rather from the love we share with friends, society and ourselves. If you have a huge home, but nobody to share it with, what use is the home? Months back, I wrote an article about one of my mentors who taught me great things about happiness with merely his words and a few blades of grass. My father was also a great believer in the power of a blade of grass. Human beings have the opportunity to choose to focus on negative thoughts or on something more pleasant such as a blade of grass. This type of mind control can bring great happiness. One aspect of mind control has to do with Catastrophic Thinking which many of us do from time to time. When an issue arises, catastrophic thinkers tend to consider the worst possible outcome. It can immobilize us in less than a second and create undo anxiety. I think the most important lesson to learn as quickly as possible in life is to control our minds therefore, cognitive thinking (our thoughts). In this and the coming month's issues, I am providing a special feature called Life's Survival Guide, Twenty Steps to Mastering Life as seen below which addresses many topics such as mind control, thought stopping, positive thinking, relaxation, anxiety, depression, and so much more. Life's Survival Guide Twenty Steps to Mastering Life June - Steps 1 to 3 | | STEP 1 Identify Unhealthy Emotional Self Talk What we say to ourselves and how we treat ourselves has a huge impact on our happiness! | | STEP 2 Nurture Anxiety Take hold of the freedom that comes with taking control of anxiety. | | STEP 3 Control Negative Self-Talk and Thinking Free yourself from yourself. | |
Our amazing team of mentors and columnists are rockin' the house as usual this month. David Suzuki, World Renowned Environmentalist, says that kids shouldn't be cleaning up our mess, Matt Tod, youth leader, shares what makes him happy, and young adult Katherine Sunita writes about happiness being a challenge. Beverley Raitz, writer, teaches us that people already have the tools to be happy while Roger Vokey, Lawyer, writes about owning our happiness. Amy Leask, Philosopher, talks about Aristotle who believes we should be, not just feel, happy and my CHILL column offers great videos to help you master meditation. I hope you enjoy the June issue. E-mail me anytime. I would love to hear your thoughts about the magazine! Take care and until next month, Lisa To get updates, be part of our community, join contests, and more, please subscribe to the magazine (free) or follow us on Twitter/Facebook (links are in top banner).
