What a year it has been! To think that through Empowerment House magazine, I have helped to touch the lives of so many young people is absolutely incredible. When Lisa Rosano approached me with the idea of reaching out to young adults, I could not wait to jump on board. My monthly submissions to Empowerment have been a pure joy. In reflection, I could not have anticipated the way each article, in turn, would touch my life as well. With each issue, Lisa, through her wisdom, not only inspired me as a writer to share my thoughts, but also challenged me to live life and be true to myself. It would prove difficult to convey a message and impart a belief on someone looking for direction if I did not believe in the words I offered. I am excited for the year to come and for my continued collaboration with this highly professional and truly inspiring monthly publication - Empowerment House. ~ Michael Killip
Human Beings are the only species that build on their knowledge and experience and pass it on to the next generation. In essence, that’s what being a Mentor is all about – passing on successful strategies, concepts and knowledge.
I love being a Mentor for Humor. Humor enriches my life, grounds me in the present moment and helps me maintain a positive attitude. It is free and each and every one of us is in control of it. Humor empowers all of us to have a more positive outlook and hopefully I have been able to pass on some strategies and ideas that have proven useful. It has been a privilege and a joy to be a part of the Empowerment House team and I look forward to a wonderful and productive year ahead. ~ Bev Raitz
Empowerment House is now one year’s old. I am proud and feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to write for an on-line magazine whose purpose and goal is to give guidance to the readers who seek their own answers to life’s questions. I, as a mentor/writer do not claim to have any special wisdom; we are all experiencing the joys and difficulties of being human. The only difference is that in my case, I have been living the day to day human adventure for a few more years than some readers. My personal challenge has been to evolve a vocabulary that adequately describes this life happening. Through the privilege of writing as a mentor, I have been allowed to hone and evolve that vocabulary.
It has been such a rewarding experience for me to reach out to you when you, dear reader, seek me out. I have met many people in my life, some rich, some poor, other with status, and many with none; the common bond and denominator that seems to be true is the desire to connect and to share with others. Being a mentor/writer for the magazine has allowed me to reach out and express that human side to you, the reader. If even one moment of your day has been rendered more calm or even happy by reading the magazine, then I am humbled and grateful to have been allowed to share my words with you. I wish you, dear reader to know that though I will probably never meet you, my compassion for you and your quest for knowledge and self understanding is exponential. I wish to thank the Publisher of the magazine for her truly visionary energy in launching Empowerment House. I hope that you, dear reader, will continue to seek out the magazine in your life’s schedule for without your love and support, we have no reason to be, and I would have no reason to write and share. It is you, dear reader, who is truly the Empowerment House wherein we reside. ~ Roger
Just over a year ago, I met a person that helped to create an opportunity for me as a young adult. After what was probably a 30-minute conversation, I got off the phone feeling more energized and I ended that first conversation feeling strengthened by listening to someone else talk about their passion and hearing what Empowerment House had the potential to become. I found a mentor to help me become more of the person I want to be.
I believe that’s why mentoring is important. Mentoring gives us all the opportunity to become both learners and teachers. We learn as young adults seeking a mentor to help guide us and we teach as young adults by sharing the unique perspective we all have. That’s what I think Empowerment House had helped to create over the past year: Opportunity and guidance. Most of all EH has been a safe place for young adults to go to when we’re maybe a bit scared or lonely. It provides us with time for important reflection around what it means to be a young adult right now and to both learn and teach. So thanks Empowerment House, it’s been a great year! Live Big, Matt |
