My Personal Happiness
What Makes Me Happy?

My Family
My wife Laura is my best friend. We are a partnership and committed to our friendship, which everything stems from. I am proud of my four kids who are healthy and moving forward with their lives. They are polite and engaging and represent my wife and I, which reflects how we raised them. I am especially happy that I will be walking my daughter down the isle in a couple of weeks!

  • Being Challenged

  • Making The Right Choices

  • Pursuing Goals

Feeling Good About Myself
When my confidence is high, I am happy. I especially like it when my clothes fit me well and I know I’m in good shape.

People Enjoying My Food
My meals can be extravagant or just a nice homemade bread with a simple homemade jam.  I love watching people enjoy my food.

Morning
Starting my day with my puppy licking my nose at 6:00 am and drinking my first coffee is wonderful.

Listening to People
The stories that the seniors I work with tell are amazing!  They are like a good book that I snuggle up to and lose myself in. They are a person-to-person fantasy full of life experiences and adventures. Just the other day, a senior woman said to me, “I remember when we got our first phone and had to crank the side to get it going.” Sounds prehistoric to me and how crazy is that? Our phones don’t even have wires!

My Bucket List
Being able to check things off on my bucket list makes me happy.  The experience of sailing the Caribbean with Laura was awesome.

Christmas
I am a big kid at heart. I decorate the house like it was Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation. I’m the guy who goes over the top and decorates everything. I’m up before the kids on Christmas morning.

True Friends
I don’t have a lot of true friends, but the ones I have are good for my soul.

Chocolate
Chocolate makes me happy to my wife’s chagrin. I have a sweet tooth and I sneak it!

An Afternoon Snooze
Being relaxed enough to know I can doze off and take the time for me away from the go, go, go, race, race, race of my life is a wonderful thing.

Movies
I love fantasia, magical, Harry Potter type movies. It’s my escape.

Being Positive
Being able to see the lighter side of life and stay positive makes me happy. When my life is full of great things, I am happy. It is my choice to make it be that way and live my life that way.

Being Involved in Empowerment House
When I know people are connecting to me and I can share a story that helps someone, I feel great!

I feel happier to have paused for this moment to consider what makes me happy! I suppose this is what I wish for all of you. Just stop and think about what makes you happy like eating a chocolate or saying hello to someone who smiles back.

I wish you well and be happy,
Michael
