What's Your Plan?
Happy 2011! This is the year to make a difference and the only way to do that is to stick to your guns and follow through with a plan. I am the world’s greatest procrastinator. This month’s article for example, was due to our publisher, Lisa, by the 15th of December and today’s submission date is January 4th. In the kitchen, I am the undisputed king of time management. I can do multiple things at once. So why is it that I get so overwhelmed with the day to day tasks of regular life? I have always been one of those guys who does not like to be late, so why do I put off things until tomorrow that I could really be doing today? Here’s what I think. Saying yes to almost everything and then worrying about it later has always been how I work. Never wanting to pass up an opportunity, I plough through life juggling this, that, and the next thing. I am a diehard optimist, knowing that everything will work out. It ALMOST always does! Learning to prioritize, making time for all the commitments that I undertake, working in time for family and using what is left for me are all very important. But how is it that my family and I come at the end? Alright 2011, here is the plan! There are many things, both business and personal opportunities, that I will undertake this year knowing that this is “my year”! The plan is simple. My children gave me a new agenda for Christmas and perhaps this is the year that I will actually use it! I promise to outline obligations and to plot them on the calendar so I do not neglect, over look, forget, ignore, postpone or procrastinate them. I make that promise first to myself and then to all of you out there. That means starting now, I will make more time to be with my family, I will work at getting all my assignments in on time for the course I’m taking, emails will be returned in an appropriate response time, and “Empowerment House” articles will be completed and submitted on or before the deadline. Last but not least, I will make time for myself and get back in the gym and working out with my personal trainer so I do not turn into one of those overweight, out of shape chefs! (Try saying that three times fast!) So, that's my plan. What's your plan? Make this year count. Set a plan, stick to it, and let us know how you make out! Happy 2011 and Good Luck!
